Choosing a laptop bag has always been a challenge to me. Previous bags I have owned have either been too big, too small, or didn’t protect the contents well. For an extended trip like ours, my laptop bag of choice is the Pacsafe Metrosafe 300 GII anti-theft laptop bag. It’s a spacious laptop bag that comes with clever anti-theft and other handy features. I chose this bag as I needed something that could fit all my tech gadgets, keep them safe and was easily accessible for going through security or just generally throughout the day.
I chose the Pacsafe laptop bag for our trip because I wanted the security features of the locking zippered compartments, the mesh lining, as well something comfortable to carry. I also didn’t want to worry about someone doing a slash and grab on the bag or pulling it from my arm. The locking shoulder strap and the slashguard wire mesh built into the bag help prevent any of those types of theft. The bag comes with RFID blocking material in a passport pocket so I can worry a little less about someone scanning my bag and passport for identity theft.
Zippers: This bag has metal zippers that can be locked by clip or a lock. There are two compartments that hold a number of items that I use frequently on our travels.
Size: In terms of the size of the bag, it is actually surprisingly spacious for a laptop bag. I wanted something that was going to fit the essentials but at the same time wasn’t a briefcase or too large to fit under an airplane or bus seat comfortably.
Verdict
This is by far one of the better investments I have made for the trip. The bag gives me a little more peace of mind than the canvas laptop bag I carried previously, and I’ll continue to use it for work when we finish traveling.
The odds are if you are carrying your bag, any bag, protectively you probably won’t need the security that the Pacsafe bag offers. That being said, I also haven’t ever had my wallet stolen but I still wear a travel wallet on the inside of my jeans. I haven’t needed the safety features at this point and haven’t ever lost a bag, had one slashed or stolen in any previous trip but once again, it’s nice to have the added protection. It’s just a little extra insurance for all of the important items that we carry through airports, on packed trains or busses or anywhere else where there is an opportunity for things to disappear. Even without the safety features, the bag is still the right size and weight for me and one of the best bags that I have owned. Pacsafe have some pretty cool anti-theft products so check out their website or youtube channel.
In the video you’ll be able to see more of the Pacsafe Metrosafe 300 GII’s features, and I also show you how much the bag actually fits, and how it looks. I hope the post and video will provide some tips on what kind of laptop bag to select if you’re going on a long trip (or anywhere really and you’re looking for added security for every-day use).
